Eligibility

Entries are open to female and male amateur golfers who (1) have reached their fourteenth birthday by June 7, 2023; (2) will not have reached their nineteenth birthday by midnight (MST) June 11, 2023; (3) will not have graduated from high school by midnight (MST) May 15, 2023; and (4) have an up-to-date Handicap Index® not exceeding 10.0 for females and not exceeding 5.0 for males under the USGA Handicap SystemTM . A Handicap Index must be issued from a “golf club” (as defined in the “USGA Handicap System Manual”) which is licensed to use the USGA Handicap System.             The Dropping Junior Championship Committee may reject an entry application, revoke an accepted application, expel from the Championship and/or suspend a player from future Dropping Junior Championships if the player engages in conduct detrimental to the integrity and image of the game of golf and/or public confidence in The Dropping Championship. Such conduct may include, but is not limited to, damage to the golf course or the player’s equipment, verbal or physical abuse of spectators, officials, volunteers, or staff, blatant or excessive profanity, disorderly behavior, failure to abide by club rules or any other unbecoming conduct.

            Age:  A player is required to list her/his age, date of birth and high school graduation date on the entry forms.

            Amateur Status:  All players must conform to the “USGA Rules of Amateur Status.”

 

Entries: Form, Fee, Closing Date, Final Field of Players

            Each competitor must complete an entry application. Golfers are encouraged to file online at (www.thedropping.com).

            Entry fee of $120 must be paid by each competitor. Entry fee will be refunded regardless of reason if RedHawk Golf Course (208-461-4295) is notified before the close of entries. A $20 service fee charge will be deducted from all refunds. After the close of entries, fee will not be refunded.

Late applications are not acceptable and will be automatically rejected. Time limit for entries means time of receipt (not time entry is transmitted). Entries should be submitted early to allow ample time for delay or error in transmission. The risk of delay or error in transmission lies solely with the entrant. THE DROPPING JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP COMMITTEE will have no liability with respect to any such delay or error and the consequences therefrom, including rejection of the entry.

The field is limited to the first 96 golfers to enter. Groupings will be determined by The Dropping Junior Championship Committee at the close of entries.

 

Schedule

            SUNDAY, JUNE  11: 

  • Official Registration: 9am-1pm at the Clubhouse
  • Official Practice Rounds after 10am (call club for times:  208-461-4295 after June 4th)

MONDAY, JUNE 12: 

  • Round 1 - Split Tee Tee Times – 8am-10am
  • Lunch will be available after completion of Round 1

            TUESDAY, JUNE 13:

  • Round 2 - Split Tee Tee Times – 8am-10am
  • Lunch will be available after completion of Round 2

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 14TH:

  • Round 3 - Split Tee Tee Times – 8am-10am
  • Trophy Presentation after the final group completes its final round

 

 

Lowest scorer for 54 holes will be champion of Division (Girls’/Boys’). In the event of a tie for the Championship or other place finish a hole-by-hole play-off will be held immediately following play, play will continue until champion/place finisher is determined. The play-off holes and their order of play will be determined by The Dropping Junior Championship Committee.

Practice Privileges

Practice rounds will be available for players on Sunday June 11th from 10am to 1pm. Call RedHawk Golf Course to make arrangements for a practice round after June 4th.
 

Rules of Golf; Close of Competition

            Play will be governed by “The Rules of Golf” as approved by the USGA. Questions will be settled by the on-site Rules Committee, whose decision will be final. The competition is deemed to be closed when the Championship trophy has been presented in that Division.

 

Golf Balls; Driver Heads

Only brands of golf balls on the most current USGA List of Conforming Golf Balls and driver heads on the most current USGA List of Conforming Driver Heads may be used. Updated lists may be found on the USGA web site at www.usga.org or by contacting the USGA Technical Department at (908) 234-2300.

 

Caddies

            Caddies are not allowed in 2023 Dropping Junior Championship.

Transportation

Players must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorized by the Committee.

Groupings and Starting Times

Groupings will be available online at www.thedropping.com or www.redhawkidaho.com starting Friday, June 9, 2023.
 

Registration at RedHawk Golf Course (10:00 – 1:00 p.m.; Sunday, June 11)

By 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, eligible players must

  1. Register in person at RedHawk Golf Course; or
  2. All players who will be arriving late should notify The Dropping Junior Championship Committee at (208) 461-4295 Players who fail to register on-site or fail to notify The Dropping Junior Championship Committee of a late arrival may not receive their clothing size with the tee gift.


Dress Code

Players must abide by The Dropping Junior Championship dress code during practice and championship rounds:  Boys’ shirts must have collars and sleeves (turtle or mock turtle neck - acceptable) and must be tucked in; tailored shorts or trousers, no blue jeans. Shorts must be no more than 2’’ above the knee cap. Girls’ golf attire must be neat in appearance: no short shorts (5” inseam minimum), no blue jeans, no tank tops.

Penalty for breach of dress code – may be expelled from the Championship and/or suspended from future IGA championships.
